is a national organization, which focuses on promotion of policy, informational,
publications, supporting support groups, research and excellent national

Adoption Resource Exchange for
Single Parents, Inc. (ARESP) is a private, non-private membership organization
of single adoptive families. ARESP
has a fine newsletter with articles on single parenting issues, book reviews,
and listing for available children and waiting families. Try their web site, www.adopting.org/ARESP.
Supports, educates, and
advocates on behalf of all kinds of adoption-built families. Besides publishing Adoptive Families this organization
sells essential adoptive parenting resources and has a 24-hour helpline.
Maintains
registries of special needs children and prospective families. No fees charged.
Free
directory of attorneys making independent adoption a part of their legal
practice.
Provides consultation,
training programs, and conferences, conducts research, publishes books and
pamphlets, and advocates on behalf of children. Its library information services
offers films, slide shows, and cassette tapes on various adoption issues.
Offers information on
adoptable domestic and foreign children, matches waiting children with
prospective families, has an overseas orphanage sponsorship program, and
publishes an annual report of foreign adoption.

Families Adopting Children Together (AFACT)
Evolving from an indigenous
adoption family support group which met regularly during the 80’s and early
90’s, AFACT’s mission has been
broadened to sponsor the statewide Arkansas Adoption Conference, and
consultation to people interested in starting support groups for adoptive
